That’s a clever photo, Paul. I saw one recently where someone had made a picture on the ground of an autumnal tree using leaves, branches and conkers. I hope those apples don’t go to waste. They can be made into lots, including apple juice. Or, would be great for ‘bobbin apples’ tomorrow night (if you played that game on Halloween when a kid?) It seems to be more about trick-or-treating these days.

Thanks Hugh. All but one of them are baking apples and as my fridge is jam-packed with them cut up and stewed to make crumble in the months to come, most of those you see have been given to a neighbour for the same use. Honestly, I’ve been picking up apples, good, rotten, part eaten by birds/squirrels for months. Glad some of them have now made it into the blogging world though!

Were all those apples from trees in your garden, Paul? I’ve seen some people put crates of apples outside their houses saying ‘help yourself.’

Yes, we have a Bramley apple tree for baking, and another that’s for everyday eating but on that the quality has been very low this year, they both need cutting back.
