    This photo could have been taken in my neck of the woods as it resembles our shoreline.

      That’s interesting, I wouldn’t have thought the Cumbrian coastline of England would have any similarities to the Californian coastline. In the 18th and 19th century this small town had a massive trade throughout the world in the rum trade, ships leaving here to all over the world, including America. Sadly they also had a significant and brutal part to play in the slave trade. I wasn’t aware of any of this until I saw an excellent exhibition here recently.
